Dear Go Friends,
The Irish Go Congress was once again a great success with the best attendance ever!
Twenty seven players took part in our fun (yet serious!) Rapid Tournament, which saw Roman Pszonka emerging as a convincing winner with 5 consecutive wins.
The Irish Open was also very exciting with 47 players, representing 15 countries, facing each other in fierce but friendly games.
After 5 rounds of suspense, the 2007 Irish Open results are:
1st place: DK Kim, 2 dan from Korea
2nd place: Roman Pszonka, 3 dan from Poland
3rd place: Milan Jadron, 1 dan from Slovakia
This year was also marked by the visit of Ambassador Hayashi of Japan and the launch of the new Japanese Ambassador Cup, donated by the embassy and presented by the Ambassador himself to this year’s winner: DK Kim.
The event was traditionally closed with players meeting in the Old Stand Pub for a few drinks, some games of rengo and of course good craic!
No Irish Open would be complete without a nice meal in the Japanese restaurant Yamamori Noodles and this year was no exception!
Pictures and game records to be published on this site, soon!
The IGA would like to thank all participants who entered the Irish Go Congress this year and extend our gratitude to the Japanese Embassy who kindly donated the Japanese Ambassador’s Cup.
Congratulations to all winners and see you all next year for even more fun!
