The 2009 edition of the Belfast Open saw a rise in numbers, with 17 players in all. Nobody was able to defeat Edinburgh’s latest resident dan – Matt Crosby – who topped the tournament table on 4 wins. In second place was Laurens Spijker, who was also the furthest travelled hailing as he did from Deflt in the Netherlands. Local boy James Hutchinson placed third on tiebreak ahead of Colin MacSweeny, Rory Wales and Gerry Mills.
