Entries are now open for the 2022 Championships. The tournament is open to all Irish nationals, and to non-nationals who have been permanently resident in Ireland for at least five years, and are eligible for Irish citizenship. You must also be a member of the Irish Go Association.
The tournament will take place in three stages. In January, candidates will play a double elimination online, with at least the top four finishers advancing. You can expect to play two games each week until you are eliminated or advance to the Top 8.
The second stage, the Top 8, will take place in Dublin over the weekend of February 5th and 6th. The qualifiers from the first stage will join the top four finishers from the previous year’s tournament in a second double elimination. The two elimination bracket winners will advance to the championship.
The championship is a best of three series, to be played across the board or online as the players prefer.
To enter, email eoghanbarry at outlook dot com. The deadline for entries is December 31st, with the first round of qualifiers to be played by January 9th. By entering, you commit to playing in Dublin should you qualify for the Top 8 — please do not enter if you cannot attend the tournament in person.
