The three-month journey to find the 2023 Irish Champion came to an end last night when Philippe Renaut won the deciding game in the Final against Lu Xinqun. Both finalists came the long way, advancing from the Qualifiers to the Top 8 and on to the Final, matching each other blow for blow in five bruising encounters across the Championship series. Philippe’s victory in the last game gave him a 3–2 record against Xinqun. Along the way, he also defeated former Champions Matei Garcia and Roman Pszonka. This is Philippe’s third championship title. His previous victories were in 2015 and 2017.
Entry for the 2024 Championship will open in December.
