UCC Tournament 4-5th Dec

University College Cork will be holding another of their fine tournaments this year, with some talk of free pizza in the air. It will be a 5 round class B event on the 4th and 5th of December. More details are available on their new website

Ireland managed to acheive 25th place in the Korean Prime Minister’s Cup World Amateur Baduk Championship. With the aid of a fortunate draw Ian Davis grabbed 4 wins from 7, laying waste to Norway, Portugal, Kazhakstan and Brazil – while failing miserably against Slovakia, Sweden and Denmark. Remember 6 months ago when the Top 8 finished and two players qualified for the final? Well today the first game in the final was actually played. It was a closely contested affair, and Ian Davis, playing black, pulled away in yose to win by 5.5 points against James Hutchinson.
