Ireland were washed out big time in their game against the Swiss. Burdened by the bail out and the prospect of economic meltdown a dismal 0-4 loss to Switzerland took place in the new Pandanet European Team Championships.

Defending Interprovincial Champions Connaught got off to a good start to the season with a comfortable 2.5-0.5 win over Leinster. Board 3 was drawn after an outbreak of sporting behaviour.
