The new Top8 Irish Championship has started with the first game result falling in: John (white) beat Olivier yesterday in the Pembroke Pub. Check the updated Irish Championship results table.

The new Top8 tournament is now officially open. Contestants are:

• Olivier Deme
• John Gibson
• Brian Gallagher
• Bernard Palmer

We invite all these players to organize their game as soon as possible. The tournament deadline is 31st of May 2008!

Bernard and Rory played their Qualifiers game on KGS. Bernard managed to maintain his opening advantage despite Rory’s best efforts. The end score was 14.5 points in Bernard’s favour. Last week Brian had beaten Paul on KGS by resignation. All the Top8 Qualifiers results can now be viewed here.

In the first game of the 2007 Irish Championship Final, Ian (b) beat Steve (w) by 15.5 points, taking a 1-0 lead. A partial record of the game is available here.

Two Top8 Qualifiers games were played in the Pembroke yesterday evening.
John win on time against Aidan, while Olivier beat Michael by just 3.5 points.
