Dublin Go Club

Toner's Pub Dublin

The longest-standing Go club in the country, Collegians Go Club meets in Toner’s Pub on 139 Baggot Street Lower. The club meets on Tuesday evenings from 7pm until last orders. Newcomers are welcome on any evening — there will always be someone who is happy to teach the rules of the game — and there is a good mix of kyu level players with one or two low dans and occasional stronger visitors. There is no charge to play at the club but you are expected to buy a drink or two by way of supporting our hosts, and regular attenders should join the Irish Go Association.

There’s an additional club meet-up at Board (29 Clanbrassil Street Upper) on Monday evenings from 7pm. This is a child-friendly venue, as it only serves non-alcoholic drinks.

Tournaments

Collegians Go Club organises the Confucius Cup each year, with the generous support of the Confucius Institute, as well as an annual one-day tournament, the Rip-Off. Dublin also had the honour of hosting the 45th European Go Congress in 2001, which was attended by nearly 300 players, making it by far the largest tournament held on Irish soil.
