2008 IRISH GO CONGRESS

29th February – 2nd MARCH 2008

TEACHERS CLUB, 36 PARNELL SQ., DUBLIN 1.

PROGRAMME:

A 3 day congress including 2 Irish titles will entice many Go players to Ireland. The Irish Rapid takes place on the Friday evening followed by the 19th Irish Open on Saturday and Sunday.

The Irish Open is a five-round tournament conducted under a McMahon draw, all games will be played with 60 minutes per player and Canadian overtime of 15 stones in five minutes. Japanese rules will be used with a komi of 6.5. All events will be held in The Teachers Club, 36 Parnell Square.

TOURNAMENT FEE:Unfortunately the cost of renting the venue has risen sharply from last year and as a result we have to increase slightly the fees.However we keep the Irish Open entrance fee unchanged for students and unemployed.

Open:	€25 (was €20 last year)
	€10 for students and unemployed (same as last year)
Rapid:	€10 (was €7.5 last year)

Payment will be accepted at registration for overseas participants. Cheques and bankdrafts must be in Euros and made payable to the Irish Go Association.

PRIZES:Prizes will be awarded for all participants achieving three or more wins in the main tournament.

ACCOMMODATION:A few rooms have been pre-booked for the Irish Go Association for the nights of the 29th of February and 1st of March in the Charles Stewart guesthouse.Rates are 59 Euro for a single room and 99 Euro for a double room, including breakfast.You should request a room as soon as possible after registering for the Go Congress.

We also recommend the Jurys Inn on Parnell Street.There is also a new Hostel also on Parnel Street that you could try if you are looking for the cheapest option
